The documentary discusses the life and work of the Chicago native, including--but also beyond--her break-out play, Raisin in the Sun. The hour-long documentary features interviews with Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Ruby Dee and Louis Gossett. Jr.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker Tracy Heather Strain and Yvonne Welbon. The event honors Hansberry on the eve of the 53rd anniversary of her death, Jan 12, 1965.
